J.J. Larson declared Season 2 Champion!
Belton, TX – Season 2 of the Pro Am Bass Trails Texas Solo Division is in the books! As our championship event started it was clear early on that mother nature wasn’t going to be her most merciful. The sun rose across the waters unleashing a peaked 24 mph wind the anglers battled to keep their boats out of the choppy waters. The heated humid sky didn’t aid the anglers in putting together the puzzle on Stillhouse Hollow Lake either. The bass appeared to start the day with a case of lockjaw during the first of three periods of fishing. During the first period only two scoreable fish made their way to the score tracker caught by angler Leonard Phillips whose 4 lb. 6 oz fish solidified him as the Big Bass winner, and the other to J.J. Larson who trailed just a couple pounds away.
Easterly winds peaked during period two as Larson pulled ahead of Philips to end period two in the lead. The final hours of fishing saw the winds calm down while anglers began putting numbers on the board. Angler Michael Stokes capitalized on the calming winds to make a valiant charge for the lead getting to within two pounds of the lead. In the end it was Larson who figured out the bite and stretched his lead out away from the pack by a clean 5 lbs. securing his position as 1st place finisher and season 2 champion. Not only that, but Larson also finished the season as the Angler of the Year taking home both trophies. Congratulations to Season 2 Champion J.J. Larson, 2nd place finisher Michael Stokes, 3rd Place and Big Bass finisher Leonard Phillips.
